PH-170 NightHawk Ultralight Pan Head

I've made the switch from an Outdoorsmans pan head to the NightHawk after watching Jay Nichols review. Intent was to migrate to the Arca-Swiss adapter and this head performs equally as well as the competition at a significantly lower price point with a significant weight reduction. Weiser hit a homerun with this head!

High quality gear. I’m very impressed with the nighthawk tripod head. Well built, huge weight savings, and pans smoother then anything else I’ve tried.

I have purchased and used the RRS Scout PT, multiple compact heads from Small Rig, multiple heads from Leofoto and at least one from vortex and none of them are remotely comparable to the Nighthawk-170. I like to run lightweight with certain gear because I almost always bring multiple optics with me scouting/hunting and I wasted a lot of money and time with the above mentioned products. I should have started with the Wiser Nighthawk and been done. I started with the Small Rig panheads from amazon and they were fine for the minimal cost but not nearly stable enough for even the smallest spotter (Kowa 554) and only good for putting in position, cinching down, glassing, then repeat the process. The Leofoto gear was fine, mid-priced and stable, but heavy and again with the inability to manage pressure properly to pan and tilt without fully cinching the adjustments for fear of dropping your optics they were really no better then the Small Rig. The RRS scout was a complete disappointment on every level accept for the lever clamp which I will admit was very nice. Then I finally purchased the nighthawk and was impressed beyond expectations. Although it is supremely lightweight it is so well manufactured that I was confident with it immediately even with larger scopes (80mm) and have also used it with a hunting rifle setup, shooting clamped in to the head, with ZERO problems. Pan and tilt features are easy to adjust and allow for solid, smooth glassing with zero rebound. I could not be happier with this head as it has become an immediate mainstay piece of kit for me. FYI I have is mounted to a Leofoto LS-255-CEX. I also tired it with others including the 324 and 365 models of the same tripod and it was flawless.

Love this pan head! This head is super lightweight and buttery smooth. I paired it with the Tricer- BC and I’m very happy with my setup.

I bought this for my binos and small spotting scope, It is amazing with both of them and I was messing around with it with my BTX and it actually handled the big spotter pretty good for such a small pan head very impressive🤙🏻🇺🇸
